If you've found your way to these boots — you're braver than most.

White boots make a statement. The Samelin 517 White Aviator Boots don't just make a statement — they back it up. The same full-grain leather, direct-injected PU sole, leather lining, and NATO-certified construction as every Samelin boot, in the one colour that demands the wearer be certain about wearing it. Handcrafted in Estonia. Unisex EU 36–46.

Most boots are designed not to be noticed. The 517 White is designed for the opposite.

White Leather That Actually Lasts

White leather footwear has a reputation problem: most white leather shoes show scuffs and wear within a few months, which is a consequence of cheap surface coatings on low-grade leather — not a consequence of the colour.

The 517 White uses water-repellent genuine leather — the same leather as the black 517 Aviator, treated to resist moisture and surface marks. Full-grain leather in white develops character with wear in the same way it does in any other colour: the grain becomes more pronounced, the surface develops texture, and the boot looks more lived-in rather than worn-out.

Scuffs on quality white leather can be treated. The alternative — wearing something more cautious — is less interesting.

NATO-Certified Construction in a Fashion Boot Silhouette

Each pair of 517 White Aviator Boots is made at Samelin's Estonian factory under NATO AQAP 2110 and ISO 9001 quality management standards — the same facility that produces the M77 Norwegian Combat Boots for active NATO forces across Europe. The construction beneath the white exterior is identical to Samelin's military-issue range:

Upper: Water-repellent genuine leather — breathable, flexible, and built to move without synthetic lining compromising the feel.

Lining: Full genuine leather throughout — no synthetic padding, no foam that compresses. A leather lining regulates temperature across seasons and shapes itself to the foot over time.

Insole: Anatomical, antibacterial, and machine-washable. For warm-weather use or additional insulation in cold, the removable insole gives you options.

Outsole: Direct-injected PU — bonded under pressure, not glued. Grip on wet and dry surfaces. Flexible across the ball of the foot.

Weight: 1.2 kg per pair (size 41) — light for a boot with this level of construction.

Who Wears White Boots

White footwear has its own audience — people who have made a deliberate choice rather than a default one. In practice, the 517 White works for:

Fashion and creative buyers: The clean, minimal silhouette in white pairs with almost any palette — black, earth tones, bright colours — because the boot itself is doing the work. Monochrome outfits, contrast pairings, or as the single statement piece in a neutral wardrobe.

Artists, musicians, and performers: White leather on a stage reads clearly. The military-functional silhouette without military aesthetic baggage gives it range across genres and contexts.

Buyers who already own the standard 517: If you wear the black 517 and want something that does everything the same boot does but announces itself — the white is the natural second pair.

Anyone who is tired of safe choices: The boot is made to the same standard as one worn by NATO armed forces. It happens to be white. That combination is unusual enough to be worth noting.

The 517 Range — White or Black?

The Samelin 517 Aviator comes in two colourways:

White (this page, EU 36–46): The statement colourway. For buyers who want the 517's construction in a finish that requires commitment and rewards it.

Black / standard (Samelin 517 Aviator Boots, EU 35–48): The everyday colourway. For buyers who want a versatile leather ankle boot that disappears into most outfits and handles city and outdoor wear without thinking about it.

The construction is identical. The size range differs — the white version currently runs to EU 46; the standard runs to EU 48. If you need EU 47 or 48, the standard 517 is the right choice.

Caring for White Leather

White leather responds to care more visibly than dark leather — which means both that marks show more readily and that treatment results are more immediately visible.

Day-to-day: A damp cloth removes most surface marks while they're fresh. Don't let marks set — treat them the same day.

Conditioning: A white or colourless leather conditioner applied every few months maintains the leather's suppleness. Avoid coloured conditioners — they will tint the surface.

Scuffs: A white leather cream (Saphir or equivalent) covers scuffs and restores uniformity. Apply with a soft cloth, buff with a clean one.

Storage: Store in a dust bag away from direct sunlight, which causes yellowing in white leather over time.

Getting wet: Dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use heat. If the boots get very wet, stuff lightly with paper while drying to maintain shape.
