The OmaKing Kuutsid are handmade leather ballerina flats made by Omaking — the same small family workshop in southern Estonia that makes the TOKU sandals, producing footwear since 1927. Soft genuine leather upper, leather lining, a removable suede-covered latex insole, and a lightweight EVA sole. The comfort logic of OmaKing's famous house slippers, redesigned for the street.

Dark brown. Unisex, EU 36–42. In stock and shipping in 4–8 working days.

Kuutsid — What the Name Means

Kuutsid is the Estonian word for a simple, close-fitting shoe — a word used for footwear that sits close to the foot without excess structure or bulk. As a product name, it describes exactly what these shoes are: minimalist, form-fitting leather flats that prioritise comfort and natural material over added construction.

Outside Estonia the word isn't searchable — but the shoe is. If you're looking for leather ballerina flats or handmade leather flat shoes made in Europe from natural materials by a workshop with a century of history, this is them.

From Slippers to the Street

OmaKing's original product is a house slipper — sold across Northern Europe and consistently praised for the combination of soft leather, ergonomic insole, and EVA flexibility that makes them genuinely different from foam-lined alternatives. The Kuutsid take those same construction principles outside: the same insole, the same sole material, the same leather — in a silhouette appropriate for city pavements, office floors, and everyday wear rather than a living room.

If you've worn OmaKing slippers, you know what to expect from the Kuutsid. If you haven't, the key reference point is a leather ballerina flat that feels like it was broken in on the first wear.

Construction

Upper: Soft genuine leather — natural, breathable, and moulds to the foot over the first weeks of wear. Dark brown leather develops a warm patina with use rather than showing scuffs as damage.

Lining: Leather throughout — no synthetic materials. A leather lining regulates temperature and moisture, keeping feet cooler in warm weather than a synthetic-lined shoe would. It also contributes to the moulding process — the interior gradually shapes itself to the individual foot.

Insole: Ergonomic latex, covered in soft suede leather. Removable. The latex layer cushions without compressing flat, providing support across the arch and forefoot for all-day standing and walking. The suede surface keeps the foot comfortable without overheating. Removable for washing or replacement.

Outsole: Lightweight EVA rubber — flexible underfoot, shock-absorbing, and significantly lighter than harder rubber alternatives. The EVA sole is the same material OmaKing uses for their slipper range, adapted for outdoor wear with a slightly more durable compound.

Slow Fashion, Southern Estonia, 95+ Years

Omaking is a family company in southern Estonia. Founded in 1927, they produce all footwear by hand in the same workshop under a slow fashion philosophy: natural materials, considered design, built to last and to be repaired rather than replaced. No seasonal trend production, no synthetic shortcuts.

The Kuutsid are designed for buyers who want one good pair of leather flats rather than several disposable ones. The leather upper will outlast multiple EVA sole replacements; the removable insole is washable and replaceable; the construction is designed for longevity.

The same workshop also makes the TOKU Helsinki and TOKU Berlin sandals, available elsewhere on myshoes24.com. If you like the Kuutsid, the TOKU sandals are the natural summer companion from the same makers.

Who the Kuutsid Are For

Everyday flat-shoe buyers: If you wear ballet flats or leather loafers for commuting, office work, or daily urban movement — the Kuutsid are the handmade, slow-fashion alternative to high-street options that rarely last more than a season.

Buyers transitioning from OmaKing slippers: The same insole, the same sole, the outdoor version. If you already wear OmaKing slippers at home, the Kuutsid extend that comfort outside.

Slow fashion and natural materials buyers: Genuine leather, leather lining, no synthetic lining, removable suede insole, EVA sole — every material is natural or minimal. Made by hand in a family workshop with 95+ years of history.

Dark brown wardrobe: The dark brown colourway pairs naturally with black, navy, cream, olive, and warm neutrals. It is a more characterful alternative to black — less severe, more versatile across warm and cool palettes.

Sizing

Available in EU 36–42 for both men and women. The size range is narrow — buyers who wear EU 43 or above will not find their size in the Kuutsid currently.

Fit runs true to size. The soft leather upper accommodates slight width variation; buyers with wider feet may find the Kuutsid comfortable without needing to size up. The removable insole can be taken out for a marginally roomier fit.
