The Samelin 599 Desert Boots are the most feature-rich of Samelin's three desert boot models — unlined nubuck leather for maximum breathability in hot, dry conditions, and a triple-element closure combining laces, side zipper and Velcro lock for a fit you can secure quickly and adjust precisely. Handcrafted in Estonia to NATO AQAP 2110 and ISO 9001 standards, backed by a 2-year warranty. EU 36–51.

Unlined for Warm Climates
The 599 is the only desert boot in Samelin's range with an unlined interior — no textile or leather lining between the leather shell and the foot. This is a deliberate choice for the boot's primary environment: hot, arid conditions where a lining that traps heat is a liability rather than a feature. Airflow moves more freely through the nubuck leather, and the boot stays cooler and lighter for extended wear in warm temperatures. The 598 and 598 2.0 both use textile linings — better for cooler or transitional conditions, less suited to genuinely hot desert environments.
The Triple Closure System
Lace-up: standard adjustable lacing for a precise, customisable fit across the full upper.
Side zipper: fast access when you want to get in and out of the boot quickly — without re-lacing each time. Particularly useful for on-and-off during travel or tactical use.
Velcro strap lock above the zipper: secures the closure and prevents the zipper from moving under load or during movement, keeping the secure fit in place without relying on the zipper alone.
The combination gives the 599 more versatility at the boot opening than either the 598 or 598 2.0, at the cost of slightly more hardware to maintain.
Waterproof Nubuck Leather
Nubuck is full-grain leather lightly buffed to a matte, velvet-like surface — denser than split-grain, naturally water-resistant and more abrasion-resistant than smooth leather's exposed grain. The 599's nubuck upper is waterproof-treated, making it resistant to sand, moisture and abrasion on the terrain it was built for.
Dual-Layer PU Outsole
A two-layer PU construction separates structural durability from cushioning, providing grip and shock absorption across rock, sand and urban surfaces.

How to care for waterproof nubuck boots with membrane lining?
Proper care extends the lifespan and keeps your boots looking good. Avoid wearing the same pair of boots on consecutive days. Always dry and clean them thoroughly before wearing them again. When putting on the boots, fasten all closures (buckles, laces, Velcro, etc.) properly.
After purchase and before first use, perform basic care using products meant for nubuck leather. Depending on the weather, apply water-repellent sprays as well. Nubuck care products are available at well-stocked shoe stores.
Store boots in a dry, well-ventilated place. Do not dry them near heat sources.
Clean your boots daily from dust and mud, and brush the sole edges and tread. Never wash boots in a washing machine or with lots of water. Use nubuck-specific products (ask at shoe stores) or a damp cloth. Use shoe deodorant if needed.
Avoid getting sharp objects inside the boots – they can damage the membrane lining.
How to care for leather boots?

The leather pull loop at the back of the high and low Aviator boots is decorative and not meant for pulling on the boots. A broken pull loop is not covered under warranty. If it does break, we can repair it as a paid service.
